The new electronic monitoring system from MTU and ZF is being tested on the Halunder Jet operated by Förde Reederei Seetouristik. The catamaran carries as many as 680 passengers from Hamburg to the North Sea island of Helgoland and back daily. Four 16-cylinder Series 4000 MTU engines delivering a total output of over 12,000 hp (around 9,000 kW) enable the high-speed ferry to operate at speeds of up to 35 knots (65 km/h). The propulsion system also includes ZF 7650 NR2H transmission systems and Kamewa waterjets.

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, the state railway of the Republic of Ireland, and Porterbrook, the UK’s largest rolling stock leasing company, have ordered a total of 13 MTU Hybrid PowerPacks from Rolls-Royce.
Both customers are evaluating the possible conversion of significant parts of their fleets to hybrid once successful trials of this cutting-edge technology are completed.

MTU Go!Manage is a platform that links up a customer’s system to the data base and significantly improves communication with MTU partners, distributors and the Customer Care Center.
