MTU South Africa was established in June 2001. Our mission is to provide world class support for the best in class diesel engines that we supply.

MTU’s South African based sales and support system consists of the following key elements:

• The MTU SA Headquarters in Milnerton, Cape Town
• A Regional  Centre, Johannesburg
• A site office in Durban
• The MTU Naval System Support Centre facility (SCC) in the Simons Town Dockyard
• Satellite support facilities in the Limpopo Province as well as in the Northern Cape and a network of Sub Saharan dealerships.

Our Cape Town headquarters facility is the hub of the company’s financial, sales, application engineering and corporate management capabilities. An extensive workshop, and electronics, logistics and training departments are also housed in this facility. The Cape Town workshop provides the bulk of the repair, overhaul and dynamic engine testing services for MTU South Africa’s marine customers.

The Johannesburg Regional Centre is the centre of excellence for our mining, C&I, powergen and rail engine support activities in Sub Sahara Africa. This facility houses the key account managers for mining, satellite support facilities, powergen, C&I and Sub Saharan dealerships and provides for centralised management and coordination of all of MTU South Africa’s maintenance support services. The bulk of the training, repair, overhaul and dynamic engine testing resources of MTU South Africa reside in this facility.

The MTU facility in Simons Town provides on – site maintenance and support to the South African Navy for their marine propulsion and auxiliary power diesel engines. This unique projection of our support system is underpinned by the extensive resources of the Cape Town headquarters and the Johannesburg Regional Centre.

Our site office in Durban houses our key account manager for Bell Equipment. Our site office manager is also the application engineering authority for Mercedes Benz engines used for all off-road applications.

Three highly successful MTU satellite facilities are situated on-site at three major open cast mines in Limpopo and the Northern Cape. These facilities are projections of our in-house capabilities and provide contracted maintenance and repair services for MTU engines fitted to mining machines.
