Commercial Vessels

Our commercial sales portfolio includes a substantial number of Series 60, Series 2000 and Series 4000 main propulsion and auxiliary engines. These engines were acquired by customers for new as well as re-engining projects in pleasure craft and fishing vessels.

We have participated in a substantial number of workboat projects with well known shipyards and vessel owners in the industry. One of the most recent installations include two MTU 8V4000 engines fitted to the Robben Island Ferry vessel in Cape Town.

Although our products and services offer inherent design efficiencies and flexibility, we are extremely uncompromising when it comes to system integrity and operational safety aspects

We are therefore confident that we have what it takes to participate in credible marine engine system projects - large or small. Our system engineering expertise provides for tailor made solutions that invariably require personal attention and short timescales for system definition and design assistance. Project related support services range from the initial design assistance, cost of ownership calculation, vibration analysis, installation and commissioning support as well as maintenance planning.

MTU’s commercial marine customers in the Sub Saharan Region require and expect levels of service that meet world class standards.  Our well trained and very experienced workforce allows us to meet these requirements and exceed the MTU brand’s promise of worldwide service excellence.
