Mechanized infantry combat vehicles, whether as wheel or track vehicles, and personnel carriers play an essential role in the support of tank units. Their responsibilities are of the highest importance, just as are the demands placed on them.
Optimal protection for personnel, the highest degree of maneuverability and mobility, large action radii, and high survivability: these important vehicles must ensure all of these. What they need are powerful engines that work with absolute reliability even under harsh conditions. We provide these engines, and they are just as powerful and robust as they are compact. These are considerable factors for success in carrying out missions.
Our fourth engine generation, the 890 series, once again embodies a technological benchmark. The engines represent the core of fully integrated, light, and compact drive systems that define standards for vehicle systems of the future – e.g. PUMA or the US ARMY Future Combat System. They are also ideal for diesel-electric and diesel-hybrid drives.
Alongside drive solutions based on MTU engines we also deliver engines based on Daimler truck engines that we modify for armored vehicles. In this way excellent technical characteristics are ideally combined with economic advantages, such as low consumption values, easy maintenance, and long servicing intervals.
