Tognum awards best Engine Component Suppliers

The Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH selected their best engine component suppliers for the Supplier Award 2008. Tognum CTO Dr. Gerd-Michael Wolters pointed out the significance of the awards during his speech: “With this award, we want to show our suppliers that we place a premium on sustained good business relations. At the same time, we want to let our customers know about our consistent quality management, because only first-rate supplier performance enables us to provide our customers with products complying with the tried & tested quality standards expected from us.“

Tognum profits from booming Market for Offshore Supply Vessels in Asia

During the current year, Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has been awarded orders with a total volume of more than €10 million by leading shipbuilding yards in South-East Asia. Orders are predominantly for propulsion systems for Offshore Supply Vessels.

Tognum repowers approx. 300 APCs for Saudi Arabia

Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has been awarded the order for the repowering of approximately 300 Saudi M113 type APC engines. Contractual partner is the Turkish defense engineering contractor FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.S., who has been commissioned by the Saudi Forces with the modernization of roughly 300 of the 1,750 existing M113 APCs.

MTU power for North Sea emergency tugboat

Four special diesel engines produced by the Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen will be used in the new emergency tugboat for the North Sea, supplying a total of 17,200 kilowatts for propulsion and 2,280 kilowatts of electrical power. Negotiations are taking place on the supply of additional MTU products for this special ship. The order volume is in the magnitude of €10 million.

Reliable power supply for South Africa from Tognum

The Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH has sold diesel engines worth over €5 million to South Africa for power generation applications. The engines are mainly intended for stand-by power generation to back up the public supply in the event of grid outages.

Tognum sponsors Match Race Germany

Tognum and its subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen are sponsors of the international sailing competition Match Race Germany. The regatta will be held off Langenargen at Lake Constance from 8 to 12 May 2008. One of the eight racing yachts will start with the Tognum logo on its hull, spinnaker, foresail and mainsail. Tognum has thus added to its existing MTU sponsoring activities.

MTU Friedrichshafen opening new Location in United Kingdom

Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has opened new offices and a workshop for the national company MTU United Kingdom (MTU UK). On Friday,  25 April the new office and workshop were opened in East Grinstead, south of London, with an opening ceremony for employees, customers and the press.

Tognum opens new offices in Hamburg

Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen today officially opened the new offices for its German headquarters on the Harburg river port in Hamburg. MTU has now maintained a base in Hamburg for 50 years. A workforce of around 100 staff at the new Hamburg offices will control sales and after-sales for the German market.
