Incorporating the advantages of immense experience and expertise, MTU's 396 SE series was specifically conceived and refined for submarine applications. In addition to customized propulsion concepts, engines from this series are also available in complete gensets with customer-defined generator and mounting systems and controlled magnetic compensation where required. Our engines, complete gensets and mounting systems are optimized to customer specifications on shock resistance, acoustics and EMC etc.
In addition, integration of MTU's ship's automation systems means that the propulsion systems can be operated securely and largely automatically in compliance with customer-defined specifications.
Our close cooperation with designers, shipbuilders and operators alike enables us to make a substantial and continuing contribution to the further development of submarine technology.
