History - The History of MTU

Heavy-duty engines have been built in Friedrichshafen since 1909 and high-performance diesel engines since 1923.

Between 1919 and 1940, the factory also produced luxury cars which, at the time, were among the most expensive and exclusive ever manufactured in Germany.

And that long history of manufacturing has been punctuated by numerous pioneering achievements in engineering which have been decisive in establishing the world-wide reputation of the present-day MTU.
